Tarot Guide: The One Card Tarot Spread

What is a Single Card Spread?

One Card Tarot Spreads are a great way to get started on your Tarot journey. I love drawing a single card for my daily Tarot practice because it's easy, simple, and quick enough for a morning routine or just before bed. This practice is perfect for beginners, helping them grasp card meanings and create connections necessary to remember each one.

Doing a single card at a time allows for focused, in-depth reflection on its significance. It’s also an effective way to develop your intuition without excess “clutter”. I highly recommend this approach for Tarot readers of all levels.

To perform this spread, follow these steps:

  • 1. Shuffle the Deck: Begin by setting an intention. It could be a question, situation, or person. Or you can simply just clear your mind and ask for a general sign from the Tarot Cards. Hold this intention in your mind and stop shuffling when it feels right.

  • 2. Draw a Single Card.

  • 3. Interpret the Cards: Reflect on the meaning of the card. Consult your intuition and reflect on the card and its possible meanings. Use it to guide your thoughts and actions for the rest of the day or week.

With practice, single card spreads can become a quick and effective tool for your daily Tarot readings. One of our favorite ways to use a Single Card Draw is to journal and meditate on it for the day or week. This helps deepen our understanding of the card's meaning and integrates its insights into our daily lives.

Here are some more Tarot tips to help you make the most of your reading:

  • Familiarize yourself with the meaning of the card you draw. Feel free to jot down your thoughts in a journal or take notes to help you remember.

  • While traditional meanings are important, your intuition plays a crucial role. A single card spread is perfect for honing and expanding your intuitive abilities.

  • Don’t rush; thoroughly interpret the card to capture important nuances.

  • Take your time and look up the meaning. Our pocket-sized Tarot Guidebook and One Page Cheatsheet are handy and quick to use tools, providing valuable insights in a pinch.
